Soccer uniforms help to foster sense of pride
Soccer uniforms are essential in the modern game. In organized soccer games, teams cannot take the field without proper uniforms.
These uniforms perform two main functions. It enables the players, the opposition, the referee and the spectators to distinguish between two teams, and it also gives the wearer a sense of pride in the team he or she is playing for.
It is a rare case when a young soccer fan grows up to play in the team he supported as a boy. In this situation, the player would have a deep sense of pride for the shirt he was wearing. That is why you often seen players kissing the crest of their shirt after scoring a goal.
In professional clubs and some amateur teams, the uniform would have the logo of a company or institution across the middle of the chest. These are the team sponsors. For pro clubs, the sponsors pay money to get huge exposure whenever the uniforms are shown on television to a global audience.
These clubs also sell merchandise to their fans, who can buy uniforms as worn by the players themselves.
For amateur clubs, the sponsor may be a small local company or even an individual who helps the team out with expenses simply for the love of the game. Whatever exposure the company or individual gets is welcomed but the main purpose is to assist the team.
Anyone who wants to form a soccer team can have their own uniforms. It is simply a case of going to the store, picking out the design you like and ordering enough uniforms for every player in your squad.
You may be extra keen and design your own uniform and logo and have them custom made, though it would cost you more.
Many amateur teams choose uniforms similar in color and motif as their favorite club or national teams.
